MHS welcomes Mrs. Fulbright
Melbourne High School is proud to announce that Mrs. Joanna Fulbright has joined the staff. She currently teaches 7th and 8th grade English, which is quite a change from teaching at Ozarka College for the past 14 years! But she has fit in quite nicely with the younger students.
“I think people sometimes don't realize that 7th and 8th grade students can be very wise in their own way. They notice more than people think, and they worry more about the real world than adults sometimes realize.” Mrs. Fulbright is also certified to teach gifted/talented and speech and has her master’s degree in G/T and English.
She and her husband, Marty, have two boys: Carson, a fifth grader, and Clayton, a third grader. Perhaps Mrs. Fulbright’s bright personality can be attributed to some of her past jobs. “I have also been a magician’s assistant, an assistant karate instructor, and a Subway sandwich artist!”
She says her favorite part about teaching is also the hardest part of her job. “I love showing the students that they can do things that they thought were too hard.”
She believes that her students are like most people; when they receive respect, they will return respect. When asked to name her favorite quote, she shared one from Don Quixote. “I know who I am, and who I may be if I choose.” Mrs. Fulbright’s year is off to a great start, and the students at MHS are lucky to have her leading the way!
