Melbourne’s 8th grade Pre-AP science classes, taught by Mrs. Sandra Taylor, were treated to a CPR lesson and lab on October 7th and 8th. Mrs. Ashley Walker, BSN, RN, presented a PowerPoint on the basics of CPR on Wednesday and returned on Thursday for each student to have the opportunity to work “hands-on” with the mannequins. All of the students were awarded a certificate of completion that stated that they had a basic understanding of Hands Only CPR and rescuer CPR for adult, child, and infant.

One of the 8th graders, Alex Walker, who is the son of Mrs. Walker, suggested the opportunity to his mother about coming to school for the classes. Faith Engles commented that “It was harder than it looks!” while Kilee Taylor said, “It would be helpful in a real life experience.” Alex Bray added that it was a “good life skill!” The students enjoyed the fun and valuable activity and were proud to get their certificates.
