MHS Band Christmas Concert 2015

On Thursday, December 4, 2015, the Melbourne High School Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Bands treated the crowd to a night of spirit-filled Christmas music. The program, titled “Christmas Carols at Home,” was under the direction of Mrs. Kristen Shepherd and consisted of a vibrant array of traditional as well as some not-so-traditional Christmas music.

Advanced Band members Taya Smith, Alex Walker, Brandon White, Zane Wilkerson, and Brooke Partin opened the concert with “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.” Intermediate and Advanced Band students Faith Engles, Hope Johnson, Bailey Miller, Kaitlyn Morehead, Bethany Graham, Kacie Dailing, and Michael Hall played “Silent Night;” following their performance were Bethany Graham and Kacie Dailing, who played a beautiful rendition of “’Twas in the Moon of Wintertime” with their clarinet and alto saxophone.

The Christmas spirit filled the air as the crowd listened to “Angels We Have Heard on High” played by members Michael Hall, Angel Reed, and Brandon White and “African Noel” presented by Priscilla Dufresne, Noah Foy, Erin Sullivan, Taya Smith, and Angel Reed. The Beginning Band members demonstrated the progress they have made during the year by playing a holiday medley of traditional Christmas music. The other musicians then joined in with “O Christmas Tree” before wrapping up the night with a rousing performance of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

Afterwards, cookies, cupcakes, and hot chocolate were provided for the guests, bringing more Christmas joy and making it a night enjoyed by all. Melbourne High School would like to thank the community for its support and Mrs. Shepherd and her band students for their delightful program “Christmas Carols at Home.”
