Senior Night 2015

    On Tuesday, February 9, 2016, Melbourne High School held its senior night ceremony to recognize seniors who have gone above and beyond in their service as Bearkat athletes. Being an athlete while maintaining good grades is not an easy task; early morning/after school practices, long bus trips, daily workouts, and missed recreational opportunities are all a big part of an athlete’s life. Senior Night at MHS is designed to honor its estimable athletes and their families for sacrificing so much to be a Bearkat and represent Melbourne School District. The following students were recognized:

    Jon Hunter Adams, son of Jon and Debbie Adams, has been a part of Bearkatz football for 6 years and was voted team captain his junior and senior years. Jon was also named All-Conference in football his junior and senior years and has been a member of the baseball team 4 years and basketball team for 5. After graduation, he plans to attend college and major in Business Management and Operations.

    Charlee Jo Byram, daughter of Donnie Byram and Leta Gay Byram, has been a part of Melbourne’s basketball and cross country programs for 6 years. She was named All-Conference in basketball in 2013. After graduation, she plans to attend college and obtain a degree in veterinary medicine.

     Jay Chaney, son of Steven Chaney and Laura Sipe, has been a member of the basketball team for 6 years and has been named All-Conference twice. He also plays baseball and was named All-Conference as a junior in that sport. After graduation, Jay plans to attend college.

     Billy Cooper, son of Tony and Tabby Cooper, has been a part of Bearkatz football for 6 years and was named All-Conference as a junior. He also plays baseball for the Katz. After graduation, Billy plans to attend Ozarka College and pursue a degree in physical therapy.

    Emily Gardner, daughter of John and Susan Gardner, has been a member of the basketball and cross country team for 6 years. She was named to the NEA All-Tournament team as a senior and All-Conference in 2013 and 2015 in basketball. After graduation, Emily plans to attend Central Baptist College and play basketball.

    Taylor Goodman, daughter of Gary and Donna Goodman, has been a member of Melbourne’s basketball team for 2 years. She is also active in softball.   After graduation, Taylor plans to attend UACCB.

    Quenton Harvey, grandson of Jessie Black, has been a part of Bearkatz football for 1 year, recently being named All-Conference Honorable Mention. He also is a member of the track team. After graduation, Quenton plans to join the armed forces or become a law enforcement officer.

    Zack Holowell, son of Wade and Audrey Holowell, has been a part of Bearkatz football for 6 years and was named All-Conference Honorable Mention as a senior. After graduation, Zack plans to go to college and major in physical therapy with a minor in world history.

    Donny Jaime, son of Mel Pollard, has played Bearkatz football for 5 years. He is also a member of the basketball and track teams. After graduation, he plans to attend Ozarka College.

    Mary Johnson, daughter of BB and Ellen Johnson, has been a member of the basketball team for 6 years and was named to the NEA All-Tournament team as a senior. After graduation, Mary plans to attend the University of Arkansas and major in Chemical Engineering.

    Jonathan Medina, son of Juan and Mallori Medina, has been a part of Bearkatz football for 3 years and was voted team captain his senior year. Jonathan was named All-Conference in football his junior and senior years. He is also involved in FBLA and Beta Club. After graduation, he plans to go to college and become a mechanic. Jonathan is being escorted by his dad, Juan Medina.

     Caleb Myers, son of Michael Myers and Lisa McCoy-Myers, has been a part of Bearkatz football for 6 years and was voted as a captain this year. Caleb was named All-Conference Honorable Mention as a junior and senior and is also a member of the track.   After graduation, Caleb plans to attend Lyon College and play football.

     Billy Savell, son of Lorne and Cathy Savell, has been a member of the Bearkatz cross country team for 6 years. He is also a member of the baseball team. After graduation, Billy plans to attend college and major in wildlife management.

     Cara Shaw, daughter of Casey and Renee Shaw, has been a member of the bowling team for 4 years and was named All-Conference in 2014 and 2015. . She is also a member of the trap team. After graduation, Cara plans to attend college.

     Wyatt Slater, son of John and Becca Slater, has been a member of the basketball team for 6 years. He has also been a member of the track team. After graduation, Wyatt plans to attend ASU Mountain Home and major in business and computer science.

     Will Weatherford, son of Clan and Stephanie Weatherford, has been a part of the cross country team for 4 years. He is also a member of the track team. After graduation, Will plans to attend Williams Baptist College and major in Missionary Studies.

     Savannah Youngblood, daughter of Kevin Youngblood and Jeanette Youngblood, has been the manager for the basketball team for 6 years. After graduation, Savannah plans to attend Lyon College and major in biology.
