Melbourne High School recently held its annual Academic Awards Ceremony and Art Exhibit on Tuesday night, May 10, 2016 in the high school gymnasium. The event was sponsored by the MHS Student Council. Family members, friends, and students enjoyed viewing student artwork displayed in the gym lobby that consisted of many different mediums, from colored pencil drawings to pottery, sculptures, various forms of painting, wood burning, and much, much more. Following the art exhibit, students received individual academic awards from their classroom teachers to add to the night’s primary purpose – to applaud the academic and artistic achievements of students. Being recognized for their performance in many different subject areas, students came forward to receive certificates, cords, and plaques as a reward for their efforts. Seniors named as Co-Valedictorians were Emily Gardner and Mary Johnson, and Charlee Jo Byram was recognized as the Salutatorian of the Class of 2016.
