The Katz Tracks 5K, which is in its 5th year as a fundraiser for Melbourne’s Cross Country teams, produced a large turnout of runners, walkers, and spectators on the morning of October 8, 2016. The sky was clear and the air crisp as the participants gathered on the starting line. Coach Melody Carroll, who organized the event, was very pleased with the support given to Melbourne High’s Cross Country team. “It’s very exciting to see everyone coming out to race and help raise money for our cross country teams. I would like to thank all of the area businesses who helped sponsor the event.”
The overall winners of the women’s division were Kiley Webb (1st, 19:59), Kenley McCarn (2nd,22:56), and Jocelyn Woolsey (3rd , 23:15). In the men’s race, Kendall Townsley finished first overall with a time of 17:37, Kolten Smith came in second with 18:29, and Blake Bledsoe earned third place with a time of 18:31.
