On Friday, November 4, 2016, Melbourne High School held its Senior Night ceremony to recognize the seniors who have played in various sports for MHS and who have gone above and beyond in their service as Bearkat athletes. Before the ceremony, Coach Kevin McCarn, Athletic Director for the District, praised the young men and women who have worked tirelessly to give the Melbourne community athletic programs it can be proud of. “Not only have they done a great job representing this school and community on the field but off the field as well. This is a group that we can all be proud of.” During the program, 18 seniors were recognized.

Lexi Sitton has been a member of the Mebourne golf team for four years. She was the runner-up at the 1-3A District Tournament, a member of the 2016 State runner-up team, and a member of the 1-3A District Champion teams for the last 4 years. She is also a member of the softball team, Beta Club, FBLA, and Student Council. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Arkansas and major in kinesiology. Lexi was escorted by her parents, Eric and Tiffany Sitton.

Senior Alec Price has been a member of the golf team for four years. He was a member of the 2015 State Championship team and a member of the 1-3A District Champion teams for the last 4 years. Alec is also a member of Beta Club, FBLA, and Student Council. After graduation, he plans to attend the University of Central Arkansas and major in computer science. Alec was escorted by his parents, Russ and Penny Price.

Cailey Cossey has been a member of the cross country team for 3 years. She is also a member of the basketball and softball teams, FCA, Beta Club, FBLA, and Yearbook. After graduation, she plans to play softball at Williams Baptist College and major in pre-veterinary medicine. Cailey was escorted by her father, Anthony Cossey, and her mother, Crystal Cossey.

Emilie Gibson has been a member of the cross country team for 1 year. She is also a member of the softball team and Beta Club. After graduation, Emilie plans to attend Ozarka and then transfer to Arkansas Tech. Emilie is the daughter of Todd and Angelique Hickerson.

Taylor Hellums has been a member of the cross country team for 2 years. She is also a member of the track team, Beta Club, History Club, and Yearbook. After graduation, Taylor plans to attend college and become a dental hygienist. She is the daughter of Shawn and Tracey Hellums.

Senior Jordan Webb has been a member of the cross country team for 6 years and was a part of the 2013 State Runner-Up team. She is also a member of the basketball and softball teams, FCCLA, FBLA, FCA, Beta Club, Student Council, Art Club, and Quiz Bowl. Jordan plans to attend college and study biology after graduation. She was escorted by her parents, David and Sarah Webb, and her sister, Emma Webb.

Hope Willhite has been a member of the cross country team for 3 years. She is also a member of the softball and track teams, FFA, FCCLA, History Club, Drama Club, Art Club, and Yearbook. After graduation, she plans to join the National Guard and pursue a career as a registered nurse. Hope was escorted by her parents, Kyle and Jill Bradford, and her sister, Jasmine Willhite.

Senior Chance Steed has been a member of the football team for 6 years. He also is a member of the baseball team, FBLA, FCA, FFA, and Beta Club. After graduation, Chance plans to attend college and major in business while playing baseball. He was escorted by his parents, Phillip and DeeDe Steed and Sandra and Rusty McFarren.

Jackson Herrington has been a member of the football team for 5 years. He is also a member of Beta Club. After graduation, Jackson plans to attend Arkansas State University and pursue a career as a pharmacist. Jackson was escorted by his father, Mark Herrington, his mother, Jeanne Herrington, his brother, Lucian Herrington, and his sister, Rori Herrington.

Blake Pettyjohn has been a member of the football team for 6 years. He is also a member of the track team, bowling team, Beta Club, and FCA. Blakes serves for the United States Armed Forces, the Arkansas Army National Guard. After graduation he plans to attend UACCB then transfer to Harding University and major in psychology or business. Blake was escorted by his parents, J.R. and Tammy McGehee, his brother, Aaron Pettyjohn, and his sister, Lacie McGehee.

Clay Harris has been a member of the football team for 6 years, where he was voted captain his junior and senior years. He is a member of FBLA, FFA, and Quiz Bowl. Clay is also member of the baseball team and was voted All-Conference in 2016. After graduation, Clay plans to attend Arkansas State University. He was escorted by his parents, Wayne and Sherri Harris, and sister Addie Harris.

Trestin Lawrence has been a member of the football team for 6 years. He is also a member of the baseball team, FCA, and Beta Club. After graduation, he plans to go to college or join the Marines. Trestin was escorted by his mother, Sara Lawrence, his father, Jeremy Lawrence, and his sister, Joannie Lawrence.

Hunter Townsley has been a member of the football team for 6 years. He is also a member of the track and bowling teams, FCA, and Yearkbook. After graduation, Hunter plans to attend college at Arkansas State University. He was escorted by his mother, Amanda Townsley.

Kyle Minyard has been a member of the MHS football team for 4 years, where he has been a 3-year starter and was voted as captain his senior year. Kyle is also a member of the track team and Beta Club and currently serves as president of FCA and as secretary for the senior class. After graduation, Kyle plans to go to college and major in engineering. He was escorted by his mother, Barbara Minyard and grandmother, Doris Byler.

Drew Love has been a member of the football team for 4 years. He is also a member of FFA, FCA, and track. After graduation, Drew plans to attend Arkansas Tech and become a coach. He was escorted by his parents, Allan and Anita Love and his brother Davis Love.

Logan Engles has been a member of the football team for 6 years. He is also a member of Beta Club and FFA. After graduation, Logan plans to pursue a career in sales. He was escorted by his parents, Ricky and Jessica Engles, and his sister, Emilee Engles.

Luke Booker has been a member of the football team for 6 years. He is also a member of FFA and Beta Club. After graduation, Luke plans to attend college and major in civil or mechanical engineering. He was escorted by his parents, Aaron and Kim Booker, and his sister, Emilie Booker.

Donnie Ciorciari has been a member of the football team for 4 years. He is also a member of the Beta Club. After graduation, Donnie plans to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. He was escorted by his grandfather, Robert Wilt, and his mother, Heather Cordis.

The Bearkatz coaches, Melbourne High School, and the community would like to thank these young men and women for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to their school and community.
