Students in the Art Club at Melbourne High School took a field trip on April 28, 2017 to visit the Crystal Bridges Art Museum. Located in Bentonville, Arkansas, the museum has a permanent collection that spans five centuries of American masterworks; ranging from the Colonial era to present day, the exhibits represent various movements in the artistic evolution of America. Works by iconic artists like Norman Rockwell, Andy Warhol, and Georgia O’Keefe are displayed for the public and the more than 45,000 schoolchildren who visit Crystal Bridges each year. Priscilla Dufresne, Art Club President, was very pleased with the trip. “Touring the Crystal Bridges Art Museum was a fascinating opportunity to appreciate art and the creativity put into it. My goal for this trip was for our members to understand the materials and techniques used in each individual work to achieve a masterpiece.” Other members attending were Cheyanne Causey, Jasmine Willhite, Alisha Holloway, Autumn Kryal, and Caitlin Ramsey. Mrs. Connie Roberts sponsors the club.
