History Club members from Melbourne High School traveled to Little Rock, Arkansas on May 10, 2017 to visit the Old State House and the Witt Stephens, Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center. The students also enjoyed a trolley ride through parts of Little Rock and North Little Rock. According to its website, the Old State House Museum is the original state capitol of Arkansas, having been constructed in 1833, and many important events in Arkansas have occurred there. In touring the Nature Center, which opened in 2008, students learned about how important fish and wildlife management is to the State of Arkansas. History student Madison Barnett enjoyed the outing. “The trip was very memorable and educational. I learn a lot about Arkansas History!” Club sponsors are Peggy Haney and Amanda Patrick.
