2A Girls Cross Country State Champions!

Melbourne High School Cross Country teams competed in the State Cross Country Meet at Oaklawn on Friday, November 2, 2018.  The Lady Bearkatz came away with the 2018 2A Girls Cross Country State Championship title!

The Lady Bearkatz won with a score of 60.  Kiley Webb placed third with a time of 21:19.6, Kate Provence placed tenth with a time of 22:25.7, and Josie Roark placed eleventh with a time of 22:28.3 earning them All-State.   Also running for the Lady Bearkatz were Audra Blevins (22nd in 23:34.6), Emma Webb (24th in 23:38.2), Kenley McCarn (25th in 23:46.6), Anna Dean (27th in 23:48.7), Melanie Gardner (36th in 24:33.5), and Annie Blevins (82nd in 27:01.5).  Other team members not able to run were Tayler Cooper, Lydia Sipe, Elle Edwards, and Kinley Caraway.

In the boys’ division Kyler Caraway placed eighth with a time of 18:56.5 earning him All-State honors.  Other runners for the boys were Riley Clairday (121st in 22:27.4), John Gardner (172nd in 24:16.6), and Kyle Anderson (210th in 27:02.6).   

Coaching both the boys and girls cross country teams is Mrs. Melody Carroll.  Congratulations to all!
