MELBOURNE — Melbourne swept the high school golf competition Monday afternoon at Cooper’s Hawk Golf Course.
The Bearkatz were led by Jared Chaney, who led the field with a 9-hole score of 38, and the Lady ‘Katz were led by Josie Love, with a medal-winning 47.
Also contributing to the Bearkat score were Cole Lamb (40) and Brain Blevins (42). Tyler Pemberton’s 46 didn’t count.
Yellville-Summit finished second with a score of 149 as Hadyn Purdom fired a 51 and J.T. Frazier (47) and Logan Lynch (51) rounded out the team score.
Ridgefield Christian finished third with a 157. Ean Bunton led with a 41. Jake Byrd added a 55 and Jake Short a 64.
Cedar Ridge and Mammoth Spring didn’t have enough golfers to compete as teams. Austin Reeves shot a 40 and Keaton Wheeler a 46 for Cedar Ridge.
The Lady Bearkatz won with a 156. After Love’s score, Lexi Sutton (51) and Halle Cooper (58) completed the team score.
Mammoth Spring’s girls finished second with a 172. Elizabeth Taylor shot a 55. Madison Van Ginhoven (60) and Jessica Case (57) added to the score.
